Dr. Stanaland Publishes
Research Paper
in the Journal of Retailing |
Dr. Andrea Stanaland,
Assistant Professor Marketing,
has an article in the current
issue of the Journal of
Retailing. The article
is entitled "Protecting
children's privacy online: How
parental mediation strategies
affect website safeguard
effectiveness."
Dr. Stanaland says that "Online privacy, particularly for
vulnerable populations such as
children, presents a growing
consumer welfare concern of
public policy makers. This paper
examines how parental
interventions can work in
conjunction with website
safeguards to reduce the
disclosure of sensitive
information online by children."
The article was co-authored with May O. Lwin from
Nanyang Technological University
in Singapore and Anthony D.
Miyazaki from Florida
International University.

Dr.
James Lollar,
associate professor and chair of
the marketing department, was
the recipient of the 2008 RU
Distinguished Service Award,
which was established to
recognize faculty who have
contributed substantial service
to the university over a
sustained period of time.

Collegiate Chapter won two
awards at the AMA
International Collegiate
Conference held April 3-5,
2008 in New Orleans, LA.
The chapter won an award for
Outstanding Membership
Activities and won third
place in the Outstanding Web
Site awards category.
This is the fifth year in a
row in which the RU chapter
has won two or more awards
at the annual conference.

Dr. Carol Bienstock,
Associate Professor of
Marketing, had an article
entitled “An Expanded Model of
Logistics Service Quality:
Incorporating Logistics
Information Technology”
published in the
International Journal of
Production Economics,
(2008), Vol. 113 (1), pp.
205-22.. The paper
discusses recent developments in
understanding and measuring
logistics service quality (LSQ)
and incorporates a framework
from the technology acceptance
model (TAM) to assess logistics
information technology use and
acceptance as an essential
component of logistics service
quality perceptions.
The article was co-authored with
Marla B. Royne, Dan Sherrell,
and Thomas F. Stafford.

Schirr,
Assistant Professor of Marketing,
has an article entitled "Growth
and Development of a Body of
Knowledge: 16 Years of New
Product Development Research"
forthcoming in the May issue
of the Journal of Product
Innovation Management, the
leading journal in new product
development (NPD). The
article, a content analysis of
several leading NPD journals,
finds evidence that the NPD
field is approaching the mature
stage as an academic discipline
and raises concerns regarding
methodology and other issues.
The article was co-authored with
Dr. Albert Page of the
University of Illinois at
Chicago.

Distinguished Research Award
by the Academy of
Educational Leadership.
The paper was presented
at the Allied Academies
International Conference in
Tunica, MS. on April 3, 2008
and will be published in the next
issue of the Academy of
Educational Leadership
Journal.
